These wild sugarcane baskets are hand made and possible because of the skill of the producers.   They come from the south west corner of Bangladesh, which is one of the poorest parts of the country.		The basket-making is organized by an NGO specially set up to improve community wellbeing and ensure a proper source of income for local people.		Thanks to sales, our partner NGO is making a notable difference – especially so in empowering women of these neighbourhoods.		Sales not only provide livelihoods for the producers but a share of income from the sale of baskets helps pay for social services including schools and healthcare.	Producers have become very skilled at basket-making, taking advantage of natural local materials.	..
