Glowbal lampshades
The Glowbal is not paper: it is handloom cotton (unbleached) arranged around a cane framework. So character as well as durability.
|
We suggest you set these up with LED lamps so you can get intensity of light through the cotton, yet run the lighting for hardly any electricity.
|
Choose from five sizes. But which size? If in doubt, scale up! Lampshades that are too small can look timid and inadequate. If ceiling height permits, choose a larger lampshade.
Our 80cm size is magnificent but please check before you order that you have sufficient headroom. This size can work really well in a tight space if you have the headroom.
At the other end of our collection is 30cm which is quite tiny!

These lampshades from the Philippines are made from eco-friendly real bamboo: strong, fast-growing and can be cut with no long-term damage to the plant.
Our bamboo lampshades are hand built by craftmakers in a rural barrio right out in the countryside beyond the small town of Muñoz in Nueva Ecija. The producers are members of Muñoz Kilusang Bayan sa Prodyuser Cooperative Society, supported by One Village for over 40 years.

Mayon
This magnificent lampshade takes its inspiration from the Mayon volcano in the Philippines.
The lampshade is a hand built structure of real bamboo with finely woven surface of «buri» (Philippine palmleaf).

Bamboo is the fastest growing woody plant on the planet (actually not a tree but a kind of grass).
Bamboo grows easily – some as much as a metre a day!
As it grows, bamboo absorbs more carbon dioxide than trees and gives out more oxygen.

Glowform lampshades
Glowform lampshades present a uniquely striking design. They are made for us in south India.
The structure is a series of frame outlines made of wood, which inside are covered and suspended together with textured hand made paper. In each case the width and depth are square 32 x 32cm, but you have a choice of three lengths.
Like all our lampshades these are pendants that need to be hung. They arrive flat and fall to length when hung.
